The Art of Being Met

T

  • A modern-day hetaira

    curious by nature

    sensual by instinct

    philosophical by habit

I am interested what happens when conversation becomes intimacy,

    when presence becomes desire

and when two strangers discover that, for one precise moment, their separate geometries intersect in the same labyrinth

We meet first in imagination.

There is an intimacy in being understood quickly.

What if the closer we come, the more there is to discover?

What if the intimacy does not simplify, but deepens?

What if another person person is not the answer, but a world?

Perhaps the labyrinth is always another person

Perhaps curiousity is already a form of desire

Some people feel strangely familiar before they are known.

Maybe recognition is not about memory

Maybe it is about possibility.

Some encounters mesmerize the architecture of a day.

They interrupt the ordinary.

Slow the pulse of time.

Turn conversation into closeness, and curiousity into desire.

What changes when someone truly sees you?

The body notices before the reason does.

I think every meningful encounter leaves a trance

And not that we not complete before this, but because it reveals something we had not yet named in ourselves.

Some people do not change who we are.

They make us notice it.

And perhaps that is where curiousity finally turns inward.

Beyond attraction,

Beyond story,

Beyond first impression.

What remains when everything apparently incidental falls away?

Essentia begins there.
